During your stay at Château La Roque, luxury boutique-hotel 50 minutes from Aix-en-Provence, we encourage you to visit Aix and the current exhibition at the Hôtel de Caumont.
Château La Roque, is a charming boutique-hotel, set in an 11th century medieval fortress, entirely restored by Chantal and Jean Tomasino, the current owners. The 5 luxury guest rooms are located in an exceptional architectural setting, recognized as Historical Heritage. In the heart of the Vaucluse, close to the major tourist and cultural sites of Provence, Château La Roque invites you to discover Aix-en-Provence and its wonders.
The Hôtel de Caumont, a few steps from Cours Mirabeau, is a major place in the history and life of Aix-en-Provence. This 18th century mansion house, listed as a Historic Monument and completely restored in 2015, has been returned to its original glory down to the smallest detail. As soon as you walk through the door, you feel a total delight. You will be enchanted by the sumptuous wrought iron staircase and the vertical window. On the first floor you can admire the music salon and its superb old music instruments. As you enter Pauline de Caumont's bedroom, a room with incredible charm, you will feel like being indiscreet as the reconstitution has been so successful. You finally getaway from the admiration of the place to go to the current exhibition. At the moment, Chagall is installed at the Hotel de Caumont until March 24, 2019 with more than a hundred works, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings. A superb selection of Chagall's creations since 1948. "Chagall, from black and white to color."
But your enchantment is not over. You can have a meal or a refreshment in one of the beautiful lounges or in the gardens. The French-style gardens have also been completely restored according to the original plans: magnificent flower beds, a rock fountain with newts and water jets. Here again is a haven of tranquility and refinement in the heart of the city of Aix.
At the Hôtel de Caumont, refinement is everywhere and in everything.
Each exhibition is a wonderful experience for adults and children alike. Our grandchildren (from 10 down to 5 years old for the youngest) love coming to this museum, which is more than that!
